Saturday afternoon is already usually a pretty noisy time at the library, but today, on top of the familiar sounds of computer keystrokes, rowdy children, and chatter in the checkout line is a cacophony of power tools, hammering, and the conversations of men hard at work. One could perceive it as annoying racket, but I choose to hear it as the sweet music of progress. The times they are a-changin’ here at BPL. We’re well underway in the construction of our new Teen Zone, which will give our young adult patrons a space of their own and allow our littlest patrons to reclaim the children’s area. A side effect of all this progress and spatial harmony is that our magazines have migrated. They have vacated their former space, which has been swallowed into the belly of the Teen Zone, and now reside in our garden view reading area, alongside our new books. For your perusing pleasure, they’re now stored and displayed on rotating racks. The magazines’ not-so-colorful cousins, the newspapers, have also made the move to the reading area. Come in and relax with your favorite periodical while you enjoy the serene view of our beautiful garden and pond. And if you see a turtle out there, be sure to let us know.
